Les Dames d’Escoffier International is now accepting applications for its third round of its LDEI Relief Fund grants. The Fund was created in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to offer assistance to non-profit organizations which provide support to women impacted by disasters, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, chapters of Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) around the world are hosting a series of virtual events focused on women, food, beverage and the hospitality industry. “Table Talks with Les Dames” will feature tastings, food and drink classes and demonstrations, one-on-one interviews with industry luminaries, panel discussions on industry issues and more.

LDEI announces the call for entries for its new 2021 M.F.K. Fisher Prize (formerly M.F.K. Fisher Awards for Excellent in Culinary Writing). The new program recognizes excellence for any format of media that broadens the understanding of the intersection of food and culture. The award is named in honor of renowned culinary writer M.F.K. Fisher, whose trailblazing work has encouraged deeper thought about the cultural significance of foodways globally.

LDEI is pleased to announce four new recipients of the second round of its Relief Fund grants. The LDEI Relief Fund was created in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to offer assistance to non-profit organizations that provide support to women impacted by disasters, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Each recipient received $2,500.

Jul 27, 2020 LDEI Founder, Carol Brock, Passes Away at 96
Carol Brock, Food Journalist, Philanthropist, and trailblazing Founder of Les Dames d’ Escoffier International (LDEI) has died. Brock passed peacefully, surrounded by family on July 27, 2020, of natural causes. She was 96. In her illustrious seven-decade culinary career, Brock championed women in the food, beverage and hospitality industries. She founded LDEI’s inaugural chapter in New York City, NY in 1976. Under her leadership LDEI has formed 45 chapters with over 2400 members worldwide.

Jul 21, 2020 LDEI Honors Carolyn Wente as 2020 Grande Dame
LDEI's prestigious Grande Dame Award will be presented this year to Carolyn Wente, CEO of Wente Family Estates, America’s longest continuously operated family-owned winery. Wente has guided the expansion and growth of the Wente Family Estate’s portfolio of wines and the development of the Wente family’s lifestyle businesses for four decades. A co-founder of LDEI’s San Francisco Chapter, Wente has been a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier for 31 years and has served on the national Board of Directors as well as in San Francisco.

Jun 30, 2020 LDEI Establishes Relief Fund
LDEI has a newly established LDEI Relief Fund, created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on women in the culinary industry. The LDEI Relief Fund will provide funding to established 501(c)(3)’s, non-governmental agencies (NGO’S) and other recognized international nonprofits benefiting women impacted by COVID-19 and other disasters globally.
